This is a WordPress plugin. It finds all the HREFs in your posts and inserts code to create an alexa.com popup of the homepage for the domain in the link. This does not try to make a call to alexa.com for each URL but for each domain. so http://www.calevans.com/resume/index.html still displays the popup of the home page for www.calevans.com.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

place the tarball in your wp-content dir.
untar with tar -zxvf wp-alexify.tgz
Go to the Wordpress Plugin menu and Activate
Go to Options/Alexify. Make sure the js directiory is correct. The second parameter is for the update notifier. If you do not want the plugin to check for an update then set this to 0. Otherwise it will call a page on my site once every x days to see if you are running the current version. I do not collection any information when this ping happens. Not your IP address, your server name or your mother's maiden name. Nothing. But if you don't like it, I understand. Just turn it off. It's for your convenience, not mine.

That's it.

Now start mousing over your URLS.

If your link to a domain website does not appear as a pop-up graphic but you are sure that other links on your page are working correctly with the Alexify plugin, this means that Alexa.com hasn't taken a thumbnail screenshot of the site. You can remedy this yourself!

Go to www.alexa.com and click on the Traffic Rankings tab at the top of the screen.
Type in the URI of the website and click "Get Traffic Details."
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Correct errors and omissions in this listing."
In the middle of the next page, click "Update Thumbnail Image of "whateveryoursitenameis.com" .

A message will come up stating that Alexa will visit the site and make a thumbnail within the next 48 hours.
